Off to the Zoo
by Amy
We were very excited that Seth finally slept in until 7:00 am this morning! Yay for all of us! We got ready, and then decided to head off to the Honolulu Zoo before the day got too hot. We all had fun at the zoo. There were lots of animals, and Seth recognized many of them from his baby Einstein animals DVD. We saw elephants (Seth's first comment was "I get on him"), tortoises, monkeys, gorillas, flamingos, tigers (there was this very big picture viewing window where the tiger was on one side and you were on the other, very cool, but a little terrifying!), zebras, rhinos, giraffes, hippos, peacocks, and much more. Seth also had fun running around and playing on the playground.
By the time we got back to the car, Seth was ready to zonk out in the backseat. We took advantage of this to have lunch at one of our favorite restaurants, Sam Choy's Breakfast, Lunch, and Crab, while Seth slept next to us in the stroller. Then, since Seth was still asleep, we headed out to Ala Moana shopping mall. We picked out an aloha shirt for Jason and one for Papa, and then we went to Hilo Hattie's and got Seth a new aloha shirt - he chose the "brown one" out of our two final choices.
For dinner we headed into Kaimuki to eat at "Champa Thai", where a group of friends get together every week to eat. We got to visit with Sarah White, a friend from Punahou and Williams, and also saw Pat Chee from Punahou. Tommy and Ivana came, as well as Sarah's mother Meg and other friends. Seth was very well-behaved, and we had a lot of fun seeing everyone. We're hoping to see them all again before we have to leave.
We got home and played a little before bed. Seth loves the Williams' dog, Bandit - he calls him "Bandit the doggie." Now he is more used to him, so he jumps up and down with delight/mild terror when Bandit comes over and licks his face. We heard him saying to Bandit "Hi bandit doggie, you having fun?" He has been obsessed with Bandit's leash (he calls it his tail), and we just showed him how it works, so Seth likes to hold one end while we "take him for a walk," or while we attach his stuffed animal Snuggle Puppy to the other end.
By the end of the day, Seth was exhausted, so we finished up our laundry and headed to bed. More big days ahead!
