Ocho de Mayo
by Jason
We wanted to send you a quick note to let you know that Zipper's birthday should be this Thursday, May 8th! We went to the doctor on Thursday for our 38-week checkup and she told us that she was able to get the date she wanted for a C-section. May 8th is the beginning of week 39, and that's when they like to do scheduled C-sections because the baby is developed enough and it makes it less likely to go into labor before the C-section.
Amy is still getting over her cough/cold, which has refused to go away on its own. Not the most fun way to spend the final weeks of pregnancy! The doctor felt it was taking too long to go away, and so she started Amy on antibiotics to make sure she's better before the delivery. Amy is feeling better now than last week, and is finally getting some sleep, so that's been a good thing.
Thank you all for your well wishes, support, and love. We apologize that we haven't been able to write/call all of you back, but with Amy's cold and the new due date, we've been a little squeezed for time. Please know that we have received all your messages, and we're thinking of you and appreciate your support.
The C-section is scheduled for 10:30am on Thursday at Hartford Hospital. We'll probably be in the hospital until Monday, and then we should be back home in Suffield. We're not sure about accessibility to e-mail and phones while in the hospital, but we'll try to send out news after Zipper arrives. Once Amy is out of surgery and we're in our regular room in the maternity ward we should be able to make a few calls and start having visitors.
We're very excited about Zipper's arrival! We'll have more news (and pictures) for everyone soon. In the meantime, our love to you all.
